Cleveland built a 3-0 lead heading into the bottom of the 4th when Detroit rallied for 2 runs. Detroit took the lead in the bottom of the 7th when Norm Cash singled home 2 more runs. In the bottom of the 8th, Detroit pinch-hitter Tony Taylor homered to make it a 5-3 game. In the top of the 9th, a Jack Brohamer double, scored Walt Williams, pulling Cleveland to within 1 run. Detroit closer, John Hiller closed out Cleveland, earning a 2 inning save. Detroit takes a 2-0 series lead heading to Cleveland for game 3.
